From North of Boston

Take Route 93 South to Exit 28 (Sullivan Square Charlestown). At the end of the ramp, continue straight in middle lane. This brings you to Sullivan Square (T station will be on your right). At the lights bear left into rotary and take your first right before the Schraft’s Building onto Main Street. Go over railroad tracks and take first left onto Medford Street. Follow straight to the end. Take a left onto Chelsea Street and then first right at the traffic light onto 13th Street (which is through Gate 5) and then take the first left onto 5th Avenue. Entrance to Parking Garage will be on the right. See below for directions in the parking garage.

From South of Boston

Take Route 93 North to Exit 23 Government Center (the 2nd exit after entering the tunnel). On the ramp, take the right fork to the North End/North Station (the left fork leads to Government Center). Take a left onto Cross Street and get into the right lane. At the traffic light at the intersection of Cross St and Sudbury St, stay right to continue on Cross Street- do not take the entrance to 93 North on your left. Continue straight as the becomes North Washington Street. Continue across the Charlestown Bridge, with Boston Harbor on your right. Stay in the right lane, and at the end of the bridge turn right onto Chelsea Street. Continue straight on Chelsea Street (the Tobin Bridge will be above you on the left) to Gate 5, at the fourth set of traffic lights. Take a right onto 13th Street and then the first left onto 5th Avenue. Entrance to Parking Garage is on your right. See below for directions in the parking garage.

From Route 1 South Over Tobin Bridge

After tolls, take first exit (Charlestown/Somerville). Go through tunnel staying to extreme right (Charlestown/Rutherford Ave). At traffic lights turn right, and proceed to extreme left of road (City Sq./Constitution Road). Go to next traffic light and turn left onto Chelsea Street. Continue straight following Chelsea Street parallel to Tobin Bridge to fourth set of traffic lights. Take a right onto 13th Street and then take the first left onto 5th Avenue. Entrance to Parking Garage is on your right. See below for directions in the parking garage.

From the West

Take the Mass Turnpike (Route 90 East) to Route 93 N via exit 24B. Once you enter the tunnel keep right and take Exit 23 Government Center (the first exit in the tunnel). On the ramp, take the right fork to the North End/North Station (the left fork leads to Government Center). Take a left onto Cross Street and get into the right lane. At the traffic light at the intersection of Cross St and Sudbury St, stay right to continue on Cross Street- do not take the entrance to 93 North on your left. Continue straight as the street becomes North Washington Street. Continue across the Charlestown Bridge, with Boston Harbor on your right. Stay in the right lane, and at the end of the bridge turn right onto Chelsea Street. Continue straight on Chelsea Street (the Tobin Bridge will be above you on the left) to the fourth set of traffic lights (Gate 5). In the Parking Garage

We recommend you drive directly to Levels 6 to 9 to find parking. Handicapped parking is on Level 2. Take the elevator in the parking garage to the second floor, and then take the pedestrian bridge on the left as you exit the elevators to Bldg 149. At the end of the bridge, either take the small elevator directly ahead or walk down to the first floor. Stop at the Security Desk and give the guard your name. Then take the elevator in the lobby to the 2nd floor. See below for directions to office.

Shuttle Bus (free)

The white Partners Shuttle Bus service runs every 15 minutes and is available from MGH (from the Jackson Lobby/Blossom Street) or from North Station. From North Station, we recommend asking the bus driver if this bus is going to Charlestown. The driver should announce each stop on the shuttle. When you get to Building 149, stop at the Security Desk and give the guard your name to receive a visitor’s badge. Someone should meet you at the security desk after Security calls upstairs when you check in. If directed to go up to the office, take the elevator in the lobby to the 2nd floor. To the Office on the 2nd Floor

Coming out of the elevator turn towards the atrium and take a right. Go through the door, take an immediate left through another door and our door is the first one on the right, Rm 2691. (The sign reads “Gerontology Research Unit”).
